There were a couple of terrific marksmanship simulators at the Royal Armory. This is me on the Enfield one (the others were a Bren and a Vickers, both original, like this one); I was 96 out of 110 on my first try and 106 out of 110 on my second. They're a really nice rifle; I plan on picking one up when I get home. Still deciding on caliber, though.

i was wondering what that was, an enfield you say, i recognized the bren from the magazine placement, do they have a side sight to compensate for that? and correct me if i'm wrong but i think a vickers is a variant of the Maxim machine gun, though it's more often shown with it's distinct water jacket than the vickers

So your in Leeds.
never heard of it till about 2 minutes ago, even then i READ it, not heard it so there you have it
I *was* in Leeds, for the afternoon. But I'm staying in York with the Owlvark. His Mom and I went down to have lunch with a friend of hers, and spent the whole afternoon at the armory. It's amazing. I'll try and post more pics.
You have to love a Mom who will hang out at the armory all afternoon and not be grouchy.
Nice marksmanship, sis.
Hehehe, thanks. I was pretty pleased with the result, considering I haven't done much rifle shooting in a number of years. And yes, I had a great day out with Geraldine. We stayed for *ages*, and even sat outside in the snow to watch some horseback skill-at-arms demonstrations.
nice, hows about i tag along next time :D
Sure, sweetie, if we're both in the UK at the same time I'd be glad to take you along.
no,no, i mean you TAKE me there, i can curl up into a pretty small ball, hide me in a suitcase, tell the guys at the airport that the bones that show up in the x-ray are part of a religeous rite and you are making your lifetimes pilgrimage to your holy city near stonehedge, sneak me some cocktail peanuts mid-flight, and VIOLA! there you have it

They don't have peanuts anymore, just pretzels, sorry. You'll have to get a passport like the rest of us...
You lie! they alternate peanuts and pretzels every few years. not the foggiest idea where i picked that up at but i remember it from somewhere :D
