So currently I'm doing a little research on Souling Horses- which I have taken as a sort of catch-all name, as there's doesn't appear to be a group name to which they all belong or have been cataloged under.
There's the Mari Lywd, the Gray Mare of Wales, who is brought out around Christmas time, the Hooden Horses of Kent, and the Antrobus Wild Horse.

Curious... I was trying to find Yule traditions and Edwardian Christmas stuff over the weekend, but besides a few pages about the yule log I couldn't come up with a single solid lead.
What put you on to these? It sounds fascinating.
Geraldine randomly brought home a book on UK folklore from the library for me. I saw the Mari Lwyd mentioned, which I knew from Susan Cooper's Dark Is Rising series (incidentally, have you read those? They're great. They're going to make a movie out of the first one, though, and the trailers look *horrible*...) and under the article they mentioned the Souling Horses and the Wild Horse of Antrobus, so I hopped right on the 'net to have a look.
I've been meaning to stop up at the bookstore and see about picking them up- haven't been out that way in a while. Shame about the movie, though. The books were so fantastic, you'd think they'd be able to just pull from them directly without mucking it up too much. *sigh*
I wish I could say that they're all at the apartment, but I actually am not sure about the whereabouts of at least two of them- still, there's probably a few at the Farm in the little dresser in my room. By the way, Bummy and Pappap would love to see you and Alaina; they send their love, and would like it if you'd call to set up lunch with them sometime.
