It's snowing pretty good out there, and I don't have a lot to get done today, so I have declared it Pam Grier Day. I'm planning on watching all the films we have with her in one long string; Coffy, Foxy Brown, Sheba Baby, Friday Foster, and Jackie Brown.

Pam Grier is amazing. In every film, she's cool, calm, collected, smart, and Strong with that "S" definitely in capitals. Nobody messes with the people she cares about and gets away with it, and she rights wrongs by whatever means necessary with whatever comes to hand. Through it all, she keeps right on looking gorgeous. She carries the 1970's films with sheer presence; I doubt they'd be quite as well-remembered if she hadn't been the star.
