So, the Owlvark had Friday and Monday off for Easter, but we got flattened by a cold that was going around and spent most of it snuggled up watching Futurama. Which is not a bad thing, by any means, but it would have been nice to have a bit more energy. We didn't plan on doing anything major, though, because York is always stuffed through the Easter holiday, and most of the people who live here avoid town like the plague until the holiday is over and it's down to its normal level of crowds.
We did venture in yesterday to pick up some necessary supplies, and happened on an excellent magician/escape artist in the middle of King's Square. He was really great (it's the second time in my life I've seen someone get out of a straightjacket, and this time was much more entertaining) and very funny.

you mean to say that after more than 700 years at least of experience with the plauge, the Brits have yet to understand that cooping up in your house will not protect you from fleas and airbourne bacteria? :D
Nah, but it does save you from literally packing a street with people so tightly that EMT's with saddlebag panniers on bikes have to be called for most emergencies in the center of town, because the ambulances can't make it there fast enough (or fast at all...)
interesting, as i understand it most english streets are small enough as it is
Some of these are even smaller- there's a couple of storefronts on either side that are literally medieval, so the doors and the windows are very short to accommodate the smaller people of 400+ years ago.
