I've been introducing the Owlvark to the joy that is Brisco County Jr, and I find myself wishing I'd seen more than a handful of episodes when they first came out. I remembered them fondly, if fuzzily, but if I'd been able to catch more I would have noticed Bruce Campbell a bit earlier and had some more eye-candy for my walls. I'm sure I could have found room for another pin-up between the Forever Knight one and the They Might Be Giants one :)

The Slow The Plot Down sea chanty, courtesy of Joel and the bots. I actually went and looked this up again because it (well, the original, presumably) was being whistled in the latest episode of Freeman's Mind.

If you haven't seen all previous 31 episodes of Freeman's Mind, may I suggest you go back and start at number 1? It just gets better and better as it goes.

Duamuteffe: Oh. My. God.
Owlvark: What?
Duamuteffe: They have Clark Asthon Smith available for the Kindle. Along with all his contemporaries- you know, Lovecraft, Howard, et cetera. And then there's Arthur Machen, Ambrose Bierce, F. Marion Crawford, Algernon Blackwood...Oh man, this is awesome.
Owlvark: Free?
Duamuteffe: Cheap. Like, twelve stories for two dollars cheap.
Owlvark: That seems reasonable.
Duamuteffe: For stuff that spends more time out of print than in? That is ludicrously good.
Owlvark: You could buy a lot of stories with your pocket money.
Duamuteffe: Already thought of that. Excuse me while I go mad with power. #maniacal laughter#

Rise And Shine, Doctor Freeman...

Another Half-Life photoshoot, but a quick one this time, because despite the bare ground it was still incredibly cold out. We've got a lot more ideas (which is good, because I keep getting requests for more from fellow DeviantArt users) but they're going to have to wait for more reasonable weather. That lab coat doesn't block the wind at all...

Duamuteffe: So we were watching tv late last night, and I was like, "It's eleven o'clock and I'm tired of wearing pants." So I kicked them off, and just as I did, what pops on the TV but an ad for Iron Man 2 on DVD. And I thought, "Yep, the pants come off and Tony Stark appears. That's canonical accuracy right there."
TehSuz: #sighs wistfully# If only it were that easy.
Duamuteffe: #identical sigh# I know, right?

(Note to my British readers: trousers are what I was going for here. Although, knowing Tony, the British term would certainly apply...)

DEVOtional '09 Pics

The disguised members of Fartbarf project their catchy electronic hooks at us.

The Pittsburghian members of The Weird Paul Rock Band play a rocking set from Devo's Hardcore CD's while an entrancing Z-Grade flick plays behind them.

The Spudboys bring down the house- I swear they get better every year. I danced so much I'm still feeling it today.

Reason 1,002,721 why my life rules

Duamuteffe: "That's the place they let you pet the stingrays, and they bump up against your hands like cats. Flat wet sandpaper cats."
Owlvark: [Bob Fossil] "The sandpaper cats? The little wet flat sandpaper cats?
Owlvark: [Howard Moon] "...The stingrays?"
Owlvark: [Bob Fossil] "Yeah!" #mimes tape recorder# "Say that again?"
Owlvark: [Howard Moon] "Stingrays."

They're doing a repeat of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace late night on Adult Swim. They're also playing The Mighty Boosh on Sunday late night. You must watch it. All of you. If you are capable of staying up until 1AM, you are hereby charged with watching these shows. It's for your own good, I swear #grins#

Reason 1,000,300 why my life rules

As predicted, the Quake party ruled, marred only by a lack of Death, who we were unable to reach in time, and Gr3ywolf, who was busy. Dr. Demoniac held up his end as the only participating God of Quake, and the rest of us didn't do half-badly either. Much pizza and soda was consumed, and many insults were exchanged. All in all, it was a highly successful night. Next time, we plan to implement Mansgame for a proper DM round. It'll be nice to have my Uncle Deadly skin back...

While watching "Look Around You"...

Duamuteffe: I don't know, I find it kind of unnerving- it's like watching a science show from a horrible alternate dimension.
Owlvark: What, the Seventies?

Where do we sign up to go out drinking with Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher, anyway? That would be an absolute riot.

Snuff Box - Baby

I laughed so hard I damn near fell off the chair. There is swearing, so don't watch this in the company of nuns, etc.

Duke Nukem Forever was announced in April 1997, at which time I was a senior in high school. They just released some new in-game footage a little over a month ago and speculation is high that the game will be released "soon."

Things I have done since Duke Nukem Forever was announced:

Graduated high school
Loafed around for a year
Moved to upstate New York
Learned to ride, train, and groom
Became a riding instructor
Went to college
Written several hundred pages of usable work
Read several hundred books
Owned six computers
Learned to cook
Crossed the Atlantic five times
Spent most of a year in the UK
Got married twice

DEVOtional 2008 Pics

...Finally, and as promised. The actual photos are huge; as always, people with dialup should probably not apply.

The Owlvark with a can of Moxie, courtesy of Professor VonMarko.

The Spudboys, as awesome as ever (I swear they get better every year)

The Mutant Mountain Boys, getting ready to rock post-apocalyptic-Appalachian-style.

Poopy Necroponde, in the middle of their set. You'll have to wait for the official video to hear how hilarious/clever they are...

Jerry and Mark during the live chat with DEVO (not a bad photo, considering I was taking a picture of a projection...)

Al gets her picture taken (I bought Byron Werner's dome from the Jocko Dome-O charity sale, and they wanted a pic of it for him.)

I am an RPG dice junkie. I own far more dice than I could play with in any one game, and I can outfit stray players easily should the need arise. I dream of having a giant glass jar filled with dice and sitting on the windowsill.

And so this will be my downfall.
